Hand surgery in Germany
Well, the hand is a very complex, sensitive and very important organ for us human beings. Even the minutest injuries or pathological alterations limit us in our actions, professionally and privately. Just put a n adhesive bandage on one of your finger tips: You will notice how much it gets in your way, how much it hinders you.
In the hand, sensitive and sometimes very small structures are lying very close together: arteries, veins, nerves, tendons, tendon sheaths, ligaments etc. All must stand in the right relation to each other, have the right tension and the right freedom of movement, etc.
In other words: A physician must have a lot of experience before he operates your hand. For this reason, there is a special, two-year training period qualifying physicians for hand surgery. This is what I got.
What can become ill in a hand?
First of all, there is the broad spectrum of injuries, ranging from the trivial infliction to the most severe contusions, amputations, burns, etc. With one of those you would be well advised to be in a large hospital having its own hand surgery department. But something like that will hopefully never happen to you!
Then there is a number of alterations and diseases, the treatment of which we like to offer:
- Snapping finger (stenosing tendovaginitis)
- Entrapment syndrome of the hand nerves: carpal tunnel syndrome, sulcus ulnaris syndrome, etc.
- Irritation of the sensory hand nerves
- Induration of the palms: Dupuytren’s contracture (palmar fibromatosis)
